About Drax

Drax operates a generation portfolio of sustainable biomass, hydro-electric and pumped hydro storage assets across four sites in England and Scotland, Including Europe’s largest power plant. It is the UK’s biggest single source of renewable electricity. The company also operates a global bioenergy supply business with 16 manufacturing facilities across the United States and Canada, producing sustainable compressed wood pellets for its own use and for customers in Europe and Asia.

Existing in a highly regulated, morals and values driven culture, amidst the backdrop of global sustainability and climate impact whilst operating multiple high risk environments, Health, Safety and the Environment are at the forefront of all levels of business strategy and operations.
The Challenge
Drax approached Green Park to partner with them on filling the business-critical role of Group Global Health, Safety and Environment Director.
Because Drax aspire to set the industry standards within this area and regulatory framework, it was absolutely vital to find the right person for the role. Existing in a highly regulated, morals and values driven culture, amidst the backdrop of global sustainability and climate impact whilst operating multiple high risk environments, Health, Safety and the Environment are at the forefront of all levels of business strategy and operations.
The Outcome
Having conducted a detailed search on both sides of the Atlantic, Green Park produced a high potential shortlist of candidates who all brought a different set of lived experience to the same competency set. We aimed to provide both the expected profile type, and also those from tangential high risk, heavily regulated and mission led environments. Wilma Kelly joins Drax Group from Certas Energy to take on this key mandate.
