The Requirements

Orla Kiely is a globally recognised fashion and lifestyle brand run by Orla, Dermott and a small team. Best known for their iconic Stem leaf print, which has grown and blossomed into an extensive library of nostalgic, joyful patterns.

Founded in 1995, Orla had a passion for bold colour and graphic design at a time when fashion was immersed in black. The Orla brand stood out from the very beginning. Combined with a special interest in mid-century design, Orla would trawl the markets in Portobello and Montreuil in Paris in search of vintage treasures, from objects to clothing from the sixties and seventies to feed her passion and establish a unique style.

It's these founding principles that define the now iconic Orla Kiely brand of today.

The Challenge

Orla Kiely are expanding on a global scale and required a Chief Commercial Officer with extensive high end brand partnership experience. A custodian of not just the brand and its roadmap, but also the future of the business on the domestic and international stage. A leader appointed to build the entire go to market strategy, developing meaningful partnerships and long term brand impact.

Green Park happily took up this challenge, the intersection of high end or luxury goods and retail, licensing and wholesale partnerships is a very specific set of lived experiences. A domestic search, but looking for leaders with proven international experience led us into several interesting markets. Ultimately a diverse shortlist of six was presented to our client, and a very close run race followed. Culminating in the appointment of Jalil Rahman as Chief Commercial Officer. Jalil joins Orla Kiely from Liberty, and most recently Richemont Group.
