Graeme Fancourt

Director

Dr Graeme Fancourt leads Green Park’s Education and Sports Search practices.

Graeme brings decades of experience as an organisational consultant, executive coach, and expert in interview-based social research. His approach to executive search is highly consultative and tailored, ensuring that every appointment is not only about filling a vacancy but selecting candidates in ways that strengthen an organisation’s long-term strategy and culture. He partners closely with clients, taking a holistic view of their organisation, sector landscape, and leadership needs.

Graeme applies his deep expertise in interview design and interpretation to create an inclusive, engaging, and thorough selection process. His method ensures that candidates feel comfortable and confident, allowing their motivations, strengths, and potential areas of development to be assessed equitably. He also places a strong emphasis on evaluating motivation, character, cultural additivity, and leadership style alongside competencies, enabling organisations to make well-informed and future-focused hiring decisions.

The Education Practice works across executive, academic, senior operational, and non-executive leadership roles within Higher Education, Multi-Academy Trusts, and charities. Clients include Russell Group, Pre-92 and Post-92 Universities, Conservatoires, private education providers, and sector bodies.

The Sports Practice supports executive and non-executive appointments across the sector, working with clubs, leagues, governing and sector bodies, and charities.

Graeme holds a doctorate from Durham University and has lectured on identity formation and community belonging across the world. He has led projects related to these themes in India, the USA, Germany, and across the UK. Outside of work, he is a keen long-distance runner and a lifelong supporter of Middlesbrough Football Club and Leicester Tigers.

I know first-hand that recruiting leadership well is a key lever that makes a positive and lasting difference to civil society organisations functioning in a world that continues to be unpredictable. Green Park’s diverse approach to leadership is uniquely placed to help these organisations flourish.
