Contract: Two year Fixed Term Contract
The Government Commercial Function is one of the largest commercial organisations operating in the UK. The diverse nature of its different departmental requirements makes its scope and range of opportunities unprecedented in the Commercial field. The Commercial Continuous Improvement Team (CCIT) sits within the Government Commercial Function (GCF), reporting directly to the Government Chief Commercial Officer (GCCO). Working at the heart of Government you will influence and be part of how Government delivers its commercial challenges, ranging from improving capability via delivery of the Commercial Operating Standards to working with Departments on their key programmes.
The CCIT is focused on creating and developing a continuous improvement approach across the Government Commercial Function in order to deliver year on year benefits and improvements. The team provides oversight on the delivery of Government’s Commercial Operating Standards, strategic leadership on Government commercial assurance programmes and drives adoption across Government of relevant best practice whether identified internally or externally. The team is a key component of the wider integrated Commercial Function alongside its peer group teams: Complex Transactions, Markets & Suppliers, and Commercial Capability Programme.
Within the Commercial Continuous Improvement Team, you will work with a cohort of commercial experts to develop a commercial standards and assurance approach that enables the GCF to recognise where commercial operational delivery is in line with the Commercial Operating Standards. This will involve providing leadership, support and advice to Departments and colleagues on their diverse commercial pipeline.
The Commercial Business Partner will apply business acumen and judgement in political settings, taking a lead on supporting and challenging Departments to continuously improve whilst providing management of a portfolio of Department relationships, assurance and Cabinet Office spending controls related to these Departments.
To be successful, candidates must demonstrate a high degree of self-sufficiency and tenacity as well as strong commercial acumen and an understanding of public sector procurement. You must be able to show experience of working at a strategic level in organisations; advising, assessing or delivering strategic commercial activity across the commercial lifecycle. You will have a proven track record of process enhancements and embedding commercial assurance best practice. As a strong analytical thinker, you will ideally have experience of leading, planning, managing reviews of commercial activity or organisational delivery. You will further have knowledge of working within complex stakeholder environments where transformation or change has been at the heart of your role.
The deadline for all applications is noon Wednesday 29th July 2020
