National Trust
South West Regional Advisory Group – Chair & Members

One of the UK’s largest and best known charities, The National Trust protects and cares for places so people and nature can thrive. We look after the nation’s coastline, historic sites, countryside and green spaces, ensuring everyone benefits.

In the South West this includes some spectacular places for nature, beauty, and history such as the coastlines of Cornwall, Devon, Somerset and Dorset; the Wessex iron age hillforts, ancient Stonehenge landscape; the nature-rich reserves of Purbeck; Dartmoor and Exmoor; 83 historic houses and gardens and many of the region’s main landmarks, including the Cerne Abbas giant, Glastonbury Tor and St Michael’s Mount. 5.3m people visit our houses and gardens each year in the South West, with a further 20m visits to our coast and countryside, assisted by 3,200 dedicated staff and 14,000 committed volunteers.

We want everyone to feel welcome and included and to have an opportunity to get involved in the work we do. To respond effectively to the crisis in nature and environment, restore and connect nature rich habitats and make it easier for everyone to have access to green space and nature along with the benefits this brings, we are now looking for a new Chair and Members for our South West Regional Advisory Group. As an influential volunteer, you will help us rise to the challenge of leading a large and complex organisation that should be open to everyone. You will help us think differently and creatively about the opportunities the South West offers for everyone. You will bring new perspectives so we can do things better and better.

We are looking for individuals  with local knowledge and the desire to help make the region’s special places the best and most inclusive places they can be. You will be connected into key stakeholder communities, understand the economic, environmental and economic trends that have an impact on the South West, and bring creative, strategic thinking.
