To date, China has attracted major investments from diverse businesses such as Apple, Burberry, Starbucks, and Microsoft; however, various authorities, including the European Union Chamber of Commerce in China, are cautious about future growth . Casualties of an abrupt slowdown in the autumn of 2012 included Burberry, which lost £1bn of its market value amidst fears that China's appetite for luxury goods may be in decline, and Swiss watch exports which nosedived in September, with sales to China down 27.5% .
